Astrology for Love and Compatibility
You must have read before that if, for example, you're a fire sign then you are most compatible with another fire sign or air sign. This is based on the idea that fire and fire or fire and air get on. Air feeds fire while water puts out fires etc. The elements, that is, earth, air, fire and water, must be complementary towards each other. Widely speaking, this is true. But you are not just your sun sign. There are other points of compatibility to compare. Recently, I read an article about how to compare your Venus signs. To some extent, this works too.
Venus rules love at first sight, young love, and the kind of love that strikes you when you least expect it. It is the initial attraction which, I'm afraid is somewhat limited unless there are other factors to sustain that feeling mutually between partners.
Generally speaking, two compatible sun signs show similar aims and interests. The moon signs show emotional sympathy and affection towards one another. Mercury shows the ability to communicate and understand each other. Venus rules love. Mars is physical attraction. Jupiter shows the depth of feeling. Saturn shows staying power. Uranus indicates one's resistance to change. Neptune denote ideals. Pluto points to the kind of undercurrents present. The moon's nodes are a show of fate. A close and easy connection between some of these factors is a good recipe for a relationship.
The comparison between 2 or more horoscopes is called synastry. You can compare the charts between you and your friend, lover, boss or even a country in which you wish to live. It's necessary to have both of your birth dates but not necessarily both birth times. One birth time would suffice. It is useful to have difficult areas pointed out because it often serves to diffuse the irritations. When there is love around there is also usually a willingness to adapt certain aspects of one's behaviour. The enjoyable side of the relationship should speak for itself.
Between lovers, the Venus in a man's chart shows the kind of woman he is attracted to but after they know each other she becomes his Moon sign. Preferably the 2 planets in his chart are in a good relationship to one another as it encourages longer lasting relationships with women.
A woman is attracted to the kind of male who is like the Mars in her chart and eventually he becomes her Sun sign. Hopefully the Sun and Mars in a woman's chart have a connection for easier and satisfying relationships with men.
Primarily, having a Sun and Moon that are supportive towards one another is better than not as this encourages like-mindedness. Sometimes planets that are too much of the same character will clash.
It is useful and interesting to have an astrologer compare your birth charts but basically, trust your own instincts. If the shoe fits, wear it. I have heard many people say "Well, I'm not supposed to get on with his sign but we have been together for 10 years...". Common sense is the bottom line.
Your Career and Money
Aries
Aries works best when there's an element of competition present so they can use the inexhaustible drive and initiative, which is their signature. Aries enjoys being busy and dealing with challenges one after the other but they take exception at being ordered about and told what to do. It's possible to advise or suggest, but unless done so in a purely informative way the Aries will ignore it all and continue to do things their own way. They have a strong sense of justice and can be sensitive when others come down hard on them just because they can. Ideally, Aries would work independently either through self-employment or by being given a set task where they can go out to accomplish a particular mission. You won't find many of this star sign cooped up in an office doing the daily grind from 9 to 5, this would be akin to locking them in an insane asylum, and eventually they'd begin to behave in a manner appropriate to such a place. Aries needs open space and lots of room to stretch and be creative, and because it's a sign ruled by Mars, they're fascinated by anything to do with fire or sharp objects and have no fear, the Aries person knows how to handle danger. They do well in trades where fire is used - their fascination with this can be observed at summer barbecues! Traditionally, they make fantastic butchers, welders and smiths, but you'll also find many successful Aries working in pioneering fields, and being the first at reaching a particular goal. Aries goes where no man has gone before. They're the perfect person to be stuck on a deserted island with, for they would never go cold, hungry, or be short of things to do.
When it comes to money, Aries does not appear to be any different from your average everyday individual, but they do have a particular style. Aries handles their finances by squirreling away cash, or expensive transportable goods. It's not noticeable and it would obviously not be appropriate to go and ask them about it, because they'll flatly deny it, not because they're secretive, it's just not anyone else's business. They are not generally mean with money, in fact, if they can help out, and it doesn't in any way infringe upon their own needs, they'll bend over backwards for just about anyone, let alone lend what they have to spare. It's rare to find an Aries spendthrift, and if one is spotted spending large amounts of cash, it's likely that they have at least the same amount saved up. As reckless and foolhardy as an Aries can look at times, make no mistake, they're quite sensible when it comes to cash and resources.
Added to that, they also seem to have a beginner's luck at every stage of their career and financial lives because they're never afraid to take a chance when necessary. Every endeavour is treated as new, or else they won't bother. Being the first sign of the zodiac, their enthusiasm and trust in life is refreshingly child-like, which is why they fear little and achieve much.
Taurus
Taurus is very aware of the practicalities of life, and is therefore money-conscious. It would be unusual to see a Taurus spend frivolously - they just don't do it, unless they have allocated a certain amount to fritter away on nothing. They know the meaning of working for what you get and they are ideal workers; dependable, trustworthy and persistent. When Taurus gets into a job, they stick to it, especially if they are being paid! Taurus is good with money because they tend not to get emotionally involved with it. They enjoy the things that money can buy, and they know how to save and invest it. More than likely, the world of banking, stocks shares and finance is full of people with a Taurus influence in their birth charts because they have a knack for handling money well. Career-wise, Taurus also makes excellent property developers and builders, and because Taurus is an earth sign, they also make successful farmers and gardeners. As a sign ruled by Venus, they also have an affinity for the arts and make wonderful musicians, sculptors, jewellers, upholsterers, tailors and designers.
It's a pleasure to do business with Taurus because they keep to their word. They are reliable because they are interminably determined and warm-hearted. However if changes need to be made to what has already been agreed, they may become obstinate and if they really feel pushed, they may become physical! It takes a lot to arouse the bull's temper but if it does happen, it would be best to stand back, to put it mildly. Running away and waiting until they cool down would be wiser because firstly, they can't run very fast, and secondly, they are very forgiving even though they never forget. You can rely on the otherwise good-natured Taurus to give another chance, after all, they prefer to work with what they have rather than begin completely afresh with someone else. As such, they are staunchly loyal, but they also demand total faithfulness from co-workers, bosses and employees alike. They say what they mean and mean what they say, and so had everyone else around them. It's a matter of keeping all cards on the table and everything above board, and so that's the way it should be!
To say that Taurus can't run very fast is not exactly the way it is; they just need to do things at their own pace. Those around them will eventually find this to be true, and will need to make adjustments accordingly. They'll have to learn the pace of Taurus whether they like it or not. Taurus is very much valued employee and boss for their endless number of attributes but they do need to be able to adapt to the speed or methods required. This is about the only sticking point for Taurus, and if it's something they can get past with ease, then they will undoubtedly get that blue ribbon for 'Employee of the Year' time and again, whether they are at the top of the work pyramid or somewhere closer to the foundations.
Gemini
The work arena is where Gemini really stands out. Being so adaptable makes them capable of just about anything - THE Jack of all trades, and it's with their gift of versatility that they meet success. They do not set limitations upon themselves and as a result, anything is possible, the sky is their limit. Any company or employer would gain by having a Gemini as their colleague or employee. Because of their dualistic nature, they can handle many more things than one at a time and they are fast learners, and quick doers. They are efficient, productive and interested in whatever they choose to do and therefore get the job done in half the time that everyone else would take. So, what can be done in spare time? They cannot tolerate idleness, so unless they are given something to do, they'll find something to do. They'll be the ones playing games on their computer or telephone handset, or perhaps be found in the company chat room live or online. They can't really be reprimanded for skiving off on company time; after all, they would have fulfilled all the requirements! At best, they'll be encouraging colleagues to keep up, like the in-house cheerleader (male or female) and giving everyone pep talks. This might be irritating to some but only to those who can't keep up!
On the other end of the scale, there is another story. Being in charge is not so much a problem for the Gemini as it is for those who work for them. It's not easy to keep up with their pace, and follow their bullet train of thought. To those who need to take their time in grasping new concepts, the Gemini boss seems all over the place with a convoluted thought process. But similarly-minded brainiacs who can follow Gemini's flashes of brilliance will share in the glory of success, as long as they don't get side-tracked in the process.
Geminis are natural salespeople whether they are talking themselves into a high-powered position or convincingly selling something that most people wouldn't realize until later that they didn't need. Their forward-thinking capability enables them to be one step ahead in the world of technology, or even when just dealing with people's objections. They'll know what to say and when in order to persuade anyone of their ideas, whether selling an idea or a car. Naturally, they make superb writers, journalists, reporters, pre-school and elementary teachers, secretaries, messengers/deliverers, merchants and mathematicians. Gemini is multi-talented and knows how to get what they want.
When it comes to money, Gemini is just as capable of making a fortune as anyone, but whatever their bank balance, it does seems to fluctuate more than other people's, perhaps because they are not afraid of taking an occasional risk. Sometimes they win, and sometimes not. In any case, their ability to move on means that they do not cling onto the past making the most efficient use of time. What they need, though, is a bit of persistence, some staying power. Combine this with their superior thinking skills and the world is their oyster.
Cancer
Ruled by the moon, which traditionally rules the general public, Cancer has an excellent ability to intuitively tune into people's wants and needs. There's an instinctive awareness present that enables them to just know what others want, and don't want. They work successfully in the field of marketing and management, in fact, this area is of great passion and interest to them so even the study or teaching of such a subject will be compelling and bring enormous joy. It's not just in this field that they are able to use their insight about how people feel. Looking after other people is one of their main objectives, which is why they also do well in caring fields: nursing, social work, and teaching, and they'll never forget a name or face making them outstanding business people, as well.
As a Water sign, any field connected to water will make them feel at home. Whether being a captain of a ship at sea, or operating the controls of a lock in a river, the closeness to the tides and rhythm of nature will keep Cancer feeling alive and at ease at the same time. Water is a naturally prolific element of nature, and being of the same element, Cancer is a very productive worker. With such a fertile aptitude, things just seem to grow in their hands; they not only make excellent gardeners, but also property and business magnets. From just one seed, an orchard or empire is never too far down the line! They're not afraid to get their hands dirty, certainly not when there's something to be gained! They enjoy building, and have a natural feel for comfort and convenience when it comes to homes and offices.
They have amazingly retentive memories, and can use this store of knowledge to trace habits or tendencies of people, money markets or just the cost of living. Many become genealogists, work in museums, or business people. Many also become artists for their skill at reproducing what they have visually stored in their minds. Also remembering that Cancer also has a need for safety and security, they are able to save money for not just rainy days, but for every kind of day in the future. They're great at squirreling away savings, but this doesn't always mean that they are the ones to turn to when a loan is needed. They will look after their own interests first of course, or else how would they themselves be capable of looking after others?
Cancer's leadership qualities enable them to inspire others into action when it comes to work and career. Cancer is renowned for their ability to acquire, and once again, acquiring money is not an uncommon proclivity with Cancer! They have a special regard for the past, and tend not to throw anything away 'just in case' and this can result in a massive accumulation of goods so they also make antique dealers, or in the case of accumulation of knowledge, many make their living as historians and photographers.
Leo
Leo's enthusiasm really gets a chance to shine in the workplace, if it can be called work that it! Whatever they do, it must be enjoyable as there would be nothing more soul-destroying than for Leo to occupy themselves with something they dislike. Experimenting is one thing, but being stuck in a dead end job is quite another. When they do find their place, they really throw their whole self into it. Their level of devotion is such that they can be totally relied upon. They are eager and steady, so very much the ideal people with whom to work. They are inherently creative so anything that allows them to express their extraordinary abilities and get praise at the same time will suit them down to a tee. Although they are highly productive people, working on a production line would not offer enough stimulation to their big hearts. They need to be building, creating and working towards a goal that feeds their internal fire and zeal.
Leo has an amazing flair for entertainment and drama. They are quite natural on the stage with adoring audiences. Many Leo individuals are professional actors, performers, directors, and in positions to accentuate their glamorous image. With a robust constitution and a strong liking for coming out on top, they also make very successful sports people. The glory of winning is a very attractive prospect for Leo. As well, many become jewellers for the gold, and there's hardly anything more attractive than being dripping in jewels in order to dress up their image!
It would be a rare Leo to be found in a subordinate position however, unless, they really feel that their input is valued and valuable. They are naturally commanding, and there's a reason for being represented by the king of beasts: they like being in charge and they are good at it! More than with any other sun sign, there have been more presidents in the United States and France who were born under the sign of Leo. Is this a surprise? They can get a bit bossy for some however, but they are so generous in both material and spiritual terms that it would be hard to find any real reason to complain about them. They have a way of balancing things out, for example, if they feel they've been a little too hard on someone, that person will be the first in line for any favours being dished out. Leo's gifts are straight from the heart, and they are known for having a heart with a huge capacity.
Their hearts can be bigger than their purses, so much so that they need to be meticulous about how much money they really have. They don't mind picking up the bill, in fact they enjoy it, which is why they really need to avoid going out at all when cash is a little tight. When it comes to money, they are believers in the 'green theory' - what goes around comes around. It works for them anyway!
Virgo
Virgo is a serious and conscientious worker, and with their highly developed analytical mind, they are superior problem solvers - a vital component to any work team. They are also very keen to help, as much of their passion and pride is derived from what they do. Although other people sometimes find their exactness a little nerve wracking, it's only because most other people could never live up to the same high standard that Virgo expects of them self, and others. For this reason, it would be better to have Virgo as an employee than as an employer! They are tireless and capable of working long hours, like a slave, but just as capable of becoming something like a slave driver. If they get a bee in their bonnet about the way something should be done, they won't stop nagging about it until it's done right. Of course, they are never wrong but some people prefer cutting corners, and they're the ones who couldn't possibly work to Virgo's expectations.
Virgo is adaptable, but they make particularly good analysts, accountants, scientists, craftsmen, librarians and civil servants. They are caring, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the human body; therefore also make excellent care workers in the health and medical field. It's as if they have a sixth sense for matters of health, they're very much tuned-into people's needs.
Virgo is usually at work, even in leisure time. They spend any spare moments on hobbies or pottering about the house making things right. Hour for hour, if a Virgo were paid for each and every task they completed, they would, no doubt, be the highest paid sign of the zodiac. However, Virgo is not the most ambitious sign of the zodiac. If they like what they do and are good at it, they will keep at it until kingdom come, not being too bothered about climbing the ranks. Sure they'll take a promotion when it's offered and they know they're up to the job, but they are genuinely concerned with having the most suitable person appropriate to the situation, and if it's not them, they'll be the first to encourage the person who is.
When it comes to money, Virgo saves, never to be caught out on a rainy day. They handle money well, whether it's their own or someone else's. Being capable of analyzing numbers gives them ability to make accurate forecasts and therefore to budget and plan ahead. They're not chintzy when it comes to buying presents; in fact they are thoughtfully sweet when choosing for other people. They really are lovely people-people, and it's either those who prefer a bit of slack in their lifestyle, or those who have a very definite idea about what they want who tend not to get on with Virgo. Virgo is an honourable, steadfast worker with reasonable aims. They reach the modest goals they set, and are rarely without a job. They do well in the world, and the world is definitely a better place with Virgo around.
Libra
Although Libra often appears to be footloose and fancy-free, they are certainly not without a few ambitious bones in their body! They like nice things, they know what they want, and they're not afraid to aim for the highest peak and get there. Some of Libra's best work characteristics are their predispositions for being friendly, democratic and diplomatic, and because they have a need to relate to people, they often function best when part of a group or partnership. When they are in charge, they have a serious talent for getting the best out of other people's abilities and to organize groups of people in the working environment, and blending diverse personalities so that everyone is able to play a part in the collective goal. For this reason they make good managers, division heads, administrators, diplomats and they work fantastically in public relations.
They also have a very strong aesthetic sense, as lovely Venus rules Libra, so another side of Libra enables them to work well in the field of art, along with careers associated with beauty and beautiful objects. Libra enjoys working in retail for the exposure to people, and also because they love handling fine things such as jewellery, designer clothing, cosmetics, and well-crafted furnishings. They take so much pleasure in this field of work that a career in one of the many aspects of the retail and trade industry is not uncommon, whether it is as a buyer, senior manager or marketing. Those Libras whose artistic talents are even more refined can make the most of their gifts as artists, composers, musicians, clothes designers, make-up artists and interior designers.
Not all Libras are dynamic go-getters however. Some are laid-back and prefer to spend their time enjoying life as much as possible. They would be content in almost any career as long as the responsibility is minimal and the pay check comes in so that they can go surfing, skating, golfing, or just sun themselves as much as possible!
Libra also enjoys beautifying other people so many will be found in health clubs and beauty salons helping to perfect the look! Overall, however, the urge to surround themselves with lovely objects in harmonious environments is a powerful motivator to make the money that is necessary to fulfil such a desire. So being in a position of power will give them the kind of salary that allows them the freedom to indulge in the finer things in life - objet d' arts, travel to exotic resorts sipping cool cocktails, and living the high life with trend-setters.
When it comes to money, Libra has the good taste to never talk about it. They wouldn't be caught dead comparing salaries; it's just not done where manners and etiquette come first. However, they are clever with their cash; they can save and earn like the biggest and best! And it's true that they like to spend money on expensive luxuries but they'll either be excellent at budgeting, earn a fortune, or they are the kind to spot a bargain from a mile off. They won't compromise on quality so they'll afford whatever it is that makes them feel like a million dollars.
Scorpio
In their working life, Scorpio is a determined and dedicated. They have a strong work ethic because they know that this is the route they must take in order to acquire the power and status they require. They're ambitious and usually have a higher end in sight than what is immediately apparent. Many Scorpios devote themselves to building a substantial career over a period of time, and although they wouldn't say no to a well thought out get-rich-quick scheme, they would be more likely to take the longer but more certain road to success; it would have more meaning. Scorpio has a powerful character, even in the most menial positions, so they usually get the respect, attention and reputation they deserve, and they're not easy to forget!
Their talents are multifaceted and their drive so powerful, it is possible for them to succeed at anything they put their mind to, although there are some professions which there is a traditional aptitude for. Transformation is a keyword for Scorpio, so anything connected to improvement and change, particularly of the human psyche and body will be excellent areas for Scorpio to delve into including; psychology, psychiatry, analysis, research, investigation, detective work, soldier, surgeon, healer or preacher. They have an ability to reach above and beyond reality, and therefore are excellent at seeing the highest potential and looking for the best possible route to get there. They sense hidden motivations, have a very finely tuned sixth sense, and will follow a lead on a mystery with interest, enthusiasm and the intention to uncover all. They could really key into almost anything, as long as there is a theme of drastic change. And because there is a strong creative side to Scorpio particularly for finding new uses for things that others may have discarded, they might also find fulfilment in furniture or painting restoration, theatre and film set designing or antique dealing.
Although they can successfully work in a partnership situation, they are not so comfortable in large groups such as offices where there are many people to co-operate and liaise with. They are best working on their own or with just another, and can be trusted to stay with whatever they are assigned to do.
When it comes to money, Scorpio's usual 'all or nothing' stance can be seen once again. They'll spend it like water when they have it, but completely hold back when they don't, and they know exactly when to stop. They can be very generous people, but not to a fault. If they are in the company of a skinflint, they'll hold back, as they never suffer fools gladly. It doesn't matter how much or how little they earn, they'll still find themselves in the situation of being able to buy what they like, then having to stay underground for awhile until the cash situation is back to what they would consider to be normal. They are excellent at handling other people's money however, as their skill for seeing potentials and future trends is easier when it comes to others, including large companies than for their own.
Sagittarius
Just because the Sagittarius individual appears to take things lightly, it doesn't mean that they don't know how to handle a serious deal when they have one. As jovial and happy-go-lucky that they appear to be at times, make no mistake, they are nobody's fool. When it comes to their career, it's true that they will take risks but they are tightly measured risks.
Sagittarius is a master at making something of nothing, and yes, in many different splendorous ways, but in relation to business and career, this is a very valuable gift. They are unreserved in their capacity to grow, create and thrive. They know how far to go, when to strike, when to hold back and have a good idea about what is and isn't possible. They'll take longer leaps than most other people would even think about, but then again most people do not live up to their full potential like Sagittarius always attempts to do, and often succeeds at doing. There is always a possibility of burnout by igniting both ends of the candle but it's the only way they can make sure that all corners have been covered by throwing light into them.
When they need time out, they'll take plenty of it and sink back to the furthest recesses in order the recharge, but when they're back, it's with such vigour and passion - always bigger and better than before. Ever expansive and always on the move, Sagittarius is the ultimate upward mover. And when it comes to checking out those new byways and untapped possibilities found on the unexpected bends in the road, they are meticulous, no stone will be left unturned. The aimless and sometimes reckless image is only a cover, not deliberate; it's just a display of their untamed side. As a double-bodied zodiacal sign - half human and half beast, they make the perfect blend of the wild and cultured worlds. As ace Archers, they have aims and always keep their eye on the target, rarely making the mistake of looking for the glory resulting from their shots at success. It's the journey that counts just as much as the destination.
With money, Sagittarius is very relaxed, being ruled by Jupiter gives them a lucky streak so they often have an easy come, easy go attitude to material possessions. If the Archer has money in his pocket they'll spend it, quickly. If there isn't any money about then they're fairly sure that one day soon one of the many pies they have their fingers in will come through and get rid of all those boring, overdue, unpaid bills. They have a natural talent for allowing all the practical, mundane things in life to slide, and why not? There's a world full of uncharted territory that might yield all kinds of treasure out there waiting to be discovered. Sagittarius can often be found in professions that allow loads of freedom, such as pilot, racing car driver, writer, researcher, or careers in the travel industry and higher education. Above all else, Sagittarius needs to do their own thing, because they do it so well!
Capricorn
It's a rare Capricorn that is out of work, or at least if they are, it's only a short transitory phase to find their self again. They have a strong work ethic and they're ambitious, and they're also aware of the fact that the shortest route to success is through determined effort. Being realistic and grounded, it would be quite unlike a typical Capricorn to while away their time lost in fantasy. They will however use their time wisely by carefully contemplating their next move in order to take the right steps, as they are very conscientious about their actions.
When young, Capricorn learns the virtue of patience and persistence against oftentimes great obstacles, which sets them up perfectly for the strong spirit with which they tackle projects in later life when they are able to put all those hard won lessons to work for them. It may take them a while to get there but a Capricorn will usually achieve success when other less tenacious types have fallen by the wayside. But they won't just trample over those who have fallen and carry on hoping to be the first to get the glory! They have strong ethics, particularly where work is concerned and if they need to cover for someone else's mistakes rather than see a company's reputation soiled, they'll be there.
There are many occupations that suit Capricorn, such as bankers, financiers, builders, architects and engineers. They also have a great talent for government and politics. In fact any career that allows them to climb the ladder of success to a position within the Establishment will suit their talents and skills perfectly. The more mystical Capricorn is often attracted to the entertainment industries, music particularly; or the more occult and spiritual paths such as the Church or New Age businesses. Capricorns want to change the world for the betterment of everyone, but particularly for themselves.
When it comes to money, Capricorn is rarely without. They are resourceful so even if they are broke, they'll find a way to sustain a living. But even if their pocketbooks are swelling, they won't be found boasting or flashing the cash, ever! For excessiveness and extravagance are unknown quantities to Capricorn. Sure they'll indulge but they are more likely to treat themselves and a loved one to the simple, natural and priceless pleasures of life, such as a great back rub, or a magnificent view, or a delicious meal, or dark chocolate. If they are seriously rich, as many can be, they'll still stay within their means rather than go over the top.
Career and money are two areas of life where Capricorn will surely get a firm handle on, as they are practical, ambitious and have a natural desire to climb and better their lives. Usually the latter part of their life, particularly after the Saturn return at the age of 28 or 29, is when they really come into their self and blossom as they begin to consistently gather in the fruits of their labours.
Aquarius
Aquarius is capable of fitting into almost any line of work, as long as they have the freedom to utilize their forward-thinking brilliance. If they happen to be in fashion, for example, they'll be the ones developing some new fabric that looks like liquid metal in different colours, or something. Or if they're more inclined to office work, they'll be the innovative mind who is thinking of clever new ways to increase productivity, or to find a use for so and so, or such and such. Because of their inventiveness, humanitarianism and forward thinking minds there are many careers that suit Aquarius. They also make great social and charity workers, astronomers and psychologists, scientists and inventors. The electronic media such as radio, television, computers and the Internet are all industries suited to the Water-bearer. They have a particular talent for IT because they are scientifically and mathematically inclined and they're one of the most intelligent signs of the zodiac who usually live well ahead of their time.
They are also intuitive and have a way of drawing on information from ethereal realms so in the arts they are attracted to drama and acting, poetry and painting. But whatever Aquarius does in the world it will usually be avant-garde, before it's time, cutting edge and sometimes the world won't be ready for it, but when the rest of the world catches up they'll usually find that there was once an Aquarius who paved the way.
Once in a work situation, Aquarius loves to make friends with those around them, but it doesn't take away from their job because they are earnest and honest individuals.
